Happy Tuesday-- Family Visit, Art, & Throwbacks

Hey people!

So my husband's family (Mom, dad, sister) left yesterday morning and we were so sad to see them go. Seriously. This living far away stuff is not easy.

Luckily my FIL travels here a lot so we get our fix. Plus my MIL came in January for my chin surgery. I think I should be thankful that they come when they do. Some people go years without seeing their family!

I might get in trouble for posting this. Whoops.

Saturday we woke up and went to the National Gallery and that's my SIL's favorite. She's really into artsy-fartsy stuff and I love that she has such an interest in it.

So picture this: My husband pushing my FIL in a wheelchair (bum knee. Long story), my SIL running from room to room looking at art, and my MIL & I slowly admiring pieces. Yup, we lost my SIL at least 8 times. 

Side note about my FIL: He had surgery one week before they came and visited. You would think he would complain and not want to wander around this place but he did it happily all while taking photos of his kid. Father. Of. The. Year. 

The architecture is amazing!

My MIL and I wonder how much time and money they spend on the upkeep of this place. Flowers/plants, dusting, sweeping, etc. 

Of course I had to snag this photo! How on earth did a photo of a poodle make it into the National Gallery of Art?! Beats me.

My FIL got a picture of me beside this piece but trust me when I say I look homeless. You can thank me later. 

I really loved the hardwood.

Not exactly sure where/when this was but yes, I only own that grey Northface jacket. That's it.

My MIL had some photos on her phone that I wanted so I went through and texted them to me. I'll only share two of the 900 (Okay, 15) I stole. 

No idea when this was but.. it describes us quite well. 

I believe this was Christmas Brunch 20..11? 10?

Also stole this beaut! I realized I didn't get any pictures of faces so I will work on that for next time. :-) Seriously, my husband has a wonderful family and we are just so blessed! 

Life Lately-- March 19th

Sorry for the lack of posts lately! I know, there are no words and I am sorry. This whole work thing, life thing, and everything else going on is a bit crazy.

But, I am here and here for good!

Still doing my Bible reading like a good girl. 

My husband buys Easter candy at Target and I "saved" these foxes. 

Oh, funny story about these socks. One day several weeks ago I wore my husband's work socks (think gigantic white tall things) running and came home with two gross blisters. Basically I was too lazy to put my own socks on.

A few days later my dad came for a work meeting and didn't have any sneakers to work out in at his hotel, so we headed to Sport's Authority. While my husband was driving I showed my dad my blisters and he literally thought we couldn't afford to buy me running socks. 

He insisted he get me some at Sport's Authority. Poor guy didn't know I was just lazy. 

Up until about a week ago our mantel had 2 baseball caps, an American flag, and a candle on it. 

Theses rascals get groomed tomorrow..thank goodness! 

*Note the lime green hand weight. That's how they watch me do 30 Day Shred. 

Dog toys!

Syracuse has been playing so poorly lately I am disguising my orange and blue. The other day I went with coral and blue just in case they lost. Good thing because they did. Awesome. 

My husband insisted we get this last week when we did an impromptu store run. His mom used to get this a lot and my heart kind of melted when he said that. Anyways, when we got home it was 6:00. I preheated the oven and chatted with a neighbor for 20 minutes. Imagine my surprise when the box said 75 minutes. Fabulous. But my husband was so happy when it was done I didn't have the heart to complain (too much).

Made this for our friends who got engaged. Okay, I didn't make the glass but you get it.

On St. Patty's day we set out for the parade. It was not as crowded as we expected so we walked through the National Aquarium while we waited for the parade to start. I could be there all day long.. but after losing my sunglasses at security I was ready to knock someone out. 

Ahem. Yup, that's for fruit.

My husband took this of us walking to the metro the other day. No I've never heard of a hair trim, but I'm getting one one tomorrow. ;)

My inlaws have a shrine to us! 

Five Question Friday-- February 7th

Happy Friday people! This week was certainly an odd week so I'm super glad it's over. :) This weekend the Museum of Natural History is having an "orchid weekend" so I think we may pop over there and see it. You can see some pictures I've taken of orchids here.

1. How do you organize your photos (digital & print ones)?

Since getting my camera I'm trying to be better about printing/editing/sharing photos. I organize my photos using iPhoto by month & year. The photos on my phone go in their own album (because they typically aren't as good quality).

My favorite album in iPhoto (not pictured) is called "Various Emailed Photos". I throw photos in here when my aunt sends me a picture of her dogs, my SIL at Prom, whatever. I don't save all of them, but I save my favorites.

I don't print individual photos and throw them into albums-- it's way too time consuming and I worry that the albums will damage the photos. However, I did print photos of our wedding. My sister got me a super nice engraved photo album that I put our favorite wedding photos in.

Anyway, I love Shutterfly albums.

I will usually make a Shutterfly album for various events (see above). These books are 8x8 and 1 is 8x11. Next time I'll make them all the same size-- 8x8. Eventually I'll have a giant stack of books. :) 

Oh, and I'm sure this is coming-- I keep them under our coffee table so people can look at them when they come over, I can peek through them, etc. 

2. How do you close a phone call?

Ha ha ha. If it's work related, it's just "Have a good day, bye" or something along those lines.

If it's my family/my husband/etc, we say "Gobble gobble". Where did that start? A few Thanksgivings ago, my aunt started saying it and it has spread ever since.

3. What is the one food that is your "cheat food"?

Hmm, I don't really have a cheat food. We do order pizza but lately it is so salty that I will just have breadsticks. LOL! Besides that I love Cinnamon Toast Crunch and it can get me into trouble sometimes.

4. Why don't you drink alcohol? (More here on #3). 

Don't really like it! Can't find anything I like that is worth the calories/weird feeling.

5. What is your most embarrassing story?

Honestly I cannot remember. I've had all the usual ones-- going out with my shirt on backwards, going out with a hole in my pants, etc. My dad has embarrassed me several times by honking the car when I was being picked up from school. Sorry, guess I don't have a very embarrassing life. :-)
