Life Lately-- March 27th

I'm trying here, people! E is passed out and my husband is browsing Facebook, so I'm hoping to give you a peek into our life as of late.

My dad came a month or so ago. We went to BJ's (we became members around Christmas time) and he was like a kid in a candy store. It was so funny.

I think we'll end up going 4-5 times a year. We get all the normal stuff plus diapers (for bedtime) and wipes. There tissues were way pricier than Target so I didn't get tissues. I love the big boxes of cereal. Awesomeness.

Little E sucks on her hands/fingers all.the.time. Note: Her first sproutie! I called it a pony and my friend quickly corrected me. Sprouties 24/7.

The first time we really took her out on our own for a good while-- we went to the mall, a sports bar (parents of the year), and did some shopping. Fed and changed her in our teeny tiny car.

Just in case we forget her name!

Got peanut all tucked in for bed, got my jammies on, and the freaking fire alarm went off. Correct that-- we don't have a fire alarm. It's a man's voice saying "There's a fire reported in the building. Please exit immediately".

Scared the crap out of her. My husband was getting ready to leave for work so he took Little E and I got some blankets (it was 30 out) and the dogs. Ayyy yi yi.

Thirty-ish minutes later we were allowed back in. Oh, turns out the fire was on our floor.

Can't have enough pictures of me and my girl. :) I want E to have lots of pictures when she grows up!

PS-- No, she never wears clothes.

Alive!

That would be how we describe it. Alive. These days the day is a success if everyone is alive. Bonus: If the house is tidy.

I'd say we are finally, finally getting a little "routine" going. The days are long. Hard, sweaty, full of poop, frustrating. Long. But oh so much fun. I couldn't imagine doing anything else. And what do they say? The days are long but the years are short.

Little E will be 5 months on Thursday. Woo hoo! Each month is more fun than the last.

I'm so sorry for the lack of life and completely neglecting this little old blog. I will be better (I hope)!

Let's see:

:: She's rolled over a few times. Still not loving tummy time, but hangs out on her belly for a good while every day.

:: Emma loves her beauty sleep. She's still waking up once a night for a quick nurse. I don't even think she's really awake..she just stirs.

:: She loves playing! She can grab all her toys and she puts them in her mouth immediately.

:: No teeth yet! Our pedi recommended starting solids/Baby Led Weaning at 6 months AND when she can sit up on our own. She turns 6 months on Easter Sunday. Ham, anyone? ;)

I'm going to try to be better about posting. Have a great day, y'all! xO

Life Lately-- November 21st

Eeek! I'm so sorry. "Life lately" has been busy, obviously. Caring for a newborn is a full time job. :) But we wouldn't have it any other way.

Yesterday Miss Emma turned 1 month old! I'll do an official post (hopefully before her 3rd birthday) but she's 9lbs, 5 ounces and 21.5 inches long. Our big baby!

She loves her baby giraffe sleeper. Mama loves it even more! I will cry like a baby the day we put it away in our storage closet. But until then Emma wears it about twice a week.

Not sure if I posted about it here but my sissy is getting married! I'm so sad I'm not closer but I cannot wait to be a part of her big day.

I can't remember when but she mailed this box to me and "proposed". No clue where she got the idea but it was so creative!

Emma was a thumb sucker in my belly and looks like she still is. It's precious.

These two kill me..

Remember when my husband went out and got the boppy? Well that was not necessary. We really don't use it all that much and now it's just a dog pillow. Sigh. Good news? The dogs love it.

For everyone who thinks I'm "tiny"..ahem, still wearing maternity pants in that picture. I gained almost 40 pounds during my pregnancy. So far I've lost a good 20 and have 20 more to go. Slowly but surely...

LOL my 3 aunts came to visit a few weeks ago. My husband went down to get them and they plowed through our apartment with this shopping cart. Too funny.

Wishing that hat came in my size..

Emma and I the day my husband went back to work. We have so much fun! The day is considered a success if everyone is alive when my husband gets home. :)

The day is even more successful if the house is clean. BONUS!

We are finally in a little "routine" and I'm so thankful! My husband doesn't go to work until after 12PM, so I get up and work out every morning before he gets up. Being able to workout (and get out of the house) for an hour every day keeps me sane.

Oreo loves the baby snot sucker. OMG does he love it. We've washed that thing 6,000 times and he keeps finding it in the "baby basket" (basket we carry around with the baby so we don't have to run to the nursery 800 times a day).

Favorite day of the week!

My husband is an expert at getting boogers. He has quite a system.

Emma in her first fluff! Sadly they are still a bit big for her, so she's wearing newborn Huggies Lil Snugglers. We have at least one blowout a day.. sigh.

BUT please note the 2 times she's worn cloth she has not had any blowouts! It was so easy,  too! Just threw them in the wash.

Waiting for Daddy-O to get home!

Oreo doing anything for attention during Emma's weekly photo. I've gotten lots of questions about her weekly photos and I'll be sure to answer them soon!

Thank you again for all the sweet comments and emails! xO

Life According To My Phone-- August 20th

I'm trying to get better about taking photos and documenting day to day life. It's definitely something I force myself to do almost every day.

It's really starting to get nice here at night. Temperatures of 60's-70's for evening walks is perfect! The dogs love being outside at this temperature and could hang out all night if we let them.

The doggies are loving their perch! They sit there throughout the whole day and just relax, sun tan, and bark at people. I keep a blanket there so they can fluff it up and be cozy wozy!

The other day they watched a cop give someone a parking ticket.. it was probably the most exciting part of our day! Ha.

And yesterday I felt so accomplished-- woke up, worked out, showered, and even makeup before 9AM! I sat on the couch while talking to my boss on speakerphone. :)

And I may or may not have had a giant bowl of fruit with a spoon.

Saturday night..waiting for their daddy-O to get home. Cocoa was snuggled so perfectly and jerk wad had to sit on top of her!

Obviously there are no words necessary..Fenway is a troublemaker.

And nothing like going to the doggie play area to discover it's no longer there...This is where everyone gathers after work to let their dogs play. Yeah, not cool.

Apparently they are tearing up the whole area to build a bridge or something. Boo.

I hate, hate, triple hate folding socks! My husband has 600,000 and they are all black and never match up. It drives me bonkers. Every Sunday I make him fold his own socks. He thinks I should just shove them in the drawer unmatched, but that gives me heart palpitations.

That's all that's knew around here! Very quiet lately, which we love. :) Enjoy your day! xO

Life According To My Phone-- July 30th

Here are some pictures from my phone as of late... totally slacking on taking photos-- I need to do better!

Came into our room and found this scene. Really?

My SIL had written a cute 4th of July note on our chalkboard but it was time to change it. This is now what's greeting you when you enter our house. Seriously, don't you wish more people applied this in everyday life?

Oreo is totally head over heels obsessed with my belly. He knows something is going on and he freaks out when she moves. It's too funny.

Any chance he gets he rests his head on my belly and just stares at me. Cocoa is a bit more nonchalant and doesn't care. Typical.

When we first moved, my sister didn't know where to put her towels in the guest bathroom when she was done with them. My MIL came and we picked up this giant package of baskets (all different sizes) from Bed Bath and Beyond.

We put the biggest one in the guest bathroom and my husband thought it was for decoration. Seriously. After we made this huge thing about it when his mom was here he still thought it was "for show".

...Men.

And as if you needed any more proof that I'm totally crazy...

Yes, I did this. I know, I know. Please judge me. My husband's parents got BG this darling dress and to be honest? I just can't wait to put it on our little girl.

So I settled for Cocoa. She couldn't walk in it but did a lovely job modeling it.

October needs to hurry up or I'll be dressing these dogs in onesies and diapers.

I need help.

Mom, what are you doing?

LOL. We had Fenway over for an hour or so a few weeks ago. He went on our bed and found a stuffed dog..whoops. He had already destroyed it so I just let him go to town.

Okay that's all folks! Enjoy your Tuesday, people. xO

Life Lately-- June 22nd

Happy Summer! I hope someone reading this is going out by the pool with a cold drink. Please, do it for me. And get some sun for me. My husband commented on how white my belly is..he really knows how to compliment a woman. :)

Today I am propped up in my special position hoping to God my back gets better before we move and go on vacation. We're on week 2 so I doubt it will. Sweet.

I've been reading my newest book all day and am about halfway through. I finally finished The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth and definitely recommend it. I know it sounds crazy but I may bring it with me when I have BG..ha ha!

(More on pregnancy/baby reading here).

So we move a week from Monday (9 days, people) and my apartment looks like a junk yard. It's so embarrassing.

Henry hates moving more than I do.

Luckily we sort of have a "system" and it all makes sense in my head. Everything is in sections by what room it belongs in and we've kept it pretty well labeled. I'm sure that will change between now and next Monday.

It will be so worth it though once we're in our new place. BG's stuff is starting to take over our living room and it will be so nice to throw it all in her nursery.

Once we get back from our vacation, we'll be in full on nursery decorating mode. Woo hoo!

My sister sent me this picture a few weeks ago-- apparently the dogs and I were featured on the show Snapped on Lifetime. This was taken when we lived in Orlando.

To be honest I thought she was drunk texting me because it was so completely random. So yeah, we're on TV, people.

Note the dust. Awesome.

Several weeks ago we took a couple hours and went through every inch of the house. We dumped/donated everything we weren't using. Luckily we do this almost every 3-5 months that it's never very much stuff.

Something was stuck in my drawer so I managed to pull the drawer out, but couldn't put it back. It was so heavy I was worried I would hurt BG picking it up. So it sat there for a good 24 hours before my husband got around to putting it back for me.

That is it for now! Cannot wait to post from our new place and report how it's going! Love all of you and thank you for all the sweet emails, etc! xO

Life Lately-- Surprise!

So on February 7th (two days before my birthday), after feeling so lousy and exhausted, I went back to bed at 9AM.

My boss called at 9:30, then my dad, then a manager I work with . . and my nap went straight to hell.

So I got up and went to Target. I knew the answer before I even got in the car but I knew my husband wouldn't believe me..

No denying that, sister.

On New Year's we toasted to seeing what God's plan for us was..Imagine my surprise 5 weeks later when that was staring me in the face!

I immediately emailed my friend asking how accurate these tests were. There's no way. She laughed in my face. There is a reason those tests are like $6 a pop.

So around 11AM, (starving) I ate a slice of pizza and texted my husband "Um. So, I'm pregnant. Can you talk?" My husband didn't believe me. He got home and made me pee on 5 more tests, wasting another $30.

All. Positive.

Do you believe me now? You can't make this stuff up. It's as if he thought I was these buying positive tests off Ebay. Nut job.

As of yesterday I'm 13 weeks with our little munchkin and we're just super blessed and excited! My official due date is October 18, 4 weeks after our lease is up..sweet!

And I found this from a blogging friend-- I'll try to be good about filling it out:

How far along? 13W1D
Maternity clothes? Nope.
Stretch marks? Nope. Bought some awful smelling stuff and hoping it works!
Sleep: Sleep sucks. Hot 24/7. Use a fan, humidifier, no covers, and ice packs.
Best moment this week: Telling my aunt and our NY family.
Miss Anything? Diet Coke, subs (lunch meat in general), sleeping, hot baths, & coffee
Movement: Nope, but excited for when it happens!
Food cravings: A sub, cheese, milk, & yogurt.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Popcorn, ground beef, cinnamon rolls, chlorine.
Have you started to show yet: Just fat.
Gender: I say boy, find out soon enough!
Labor Signs: Oh Lord no.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Moody at night or when I'm hot but happy the rest of the time!
Looking forward to: The pizza rolls being done and finding out the gender!

Life According To My Phone-- February 12th

Our neighbors across the way rescued a lab/hound mix and guess who starting walking him?

Yup, you guessed it. :-) At first he was horribly behaved, but he's finally learning how to walk on a leash.

And not to mention on the first day I went to walk him, he had destroyed their entire house-- chewed a sonicare toothbrush, got into nail polish, and make up.

After cleaning a stranger's house for 20 minutes, I decided to let the owners know..

LOL! They felt quite bad.

Every day when I get home from my jog I run to the tissue box (because it's so cold!). Cocoa jumps up (practically to my nose) to steal tissues from me. One day, I let her have them. :)

For several months I've heard great things about Nature's Miracle. It's supposed to be awesome (luckily I haven't had to use it yet). You can read more about it here

Got a new calendar. Read more about my calendar/planner system here.

Told you I'm obsessed with this stuff..bought another one!

One night when I was out getting groceries I noticed this bag of blueberry muffin mix near the checkout area. I quickly thought that the cashier would scan it thinking it was mine, but got busy getting my credit card out.

Of course when I got home look what was in the bag! :)

My mom always bought me cozy socks for every holiday-- birthday, Christmas, Valentine's, etc. She would throw them in with my present and I loved it.

When she died my dad did picked up on the "sock gift" and bought me a few for Christmas and the next few holidays. I think he got embarrassed going into Bath & Body Works, Target, or Victoria's Secret because as of late. . . no socks! Oh well. :)

So now I buy myself socks for each holiday and think of my mom. The ones pictured above were my birthday socks!

On this particular day I left for a jog and immediately regretted not wearing enough layers. Luckily we have an underground "mall" near our apartment so I jogged inside. It was so scary at some stretches-- nobody around and very quiet! Did I mention I didn't have any signal so Pandora wasn't working?

My dad has a shrine to me in Florida. Love him!

My aunt's dog (Lucy, Cairn Terrier) is my favorite!
