Five Question Friday-- March 28th

TGIF! Oh wait that means nothing anymore, ha ha. 

Woo hoo for the weekend. I'm so glad Monday is not a payroll day because this week has been rough. I'm praying it's going to warm up this weekend and maybe E and I can walk to my favorite park. There's still snow on the ground so I'm doubtful. 

I have so many questions to answer so I'm going to try to get this show on the road every Friday. We'll see how that turns out! 

1. How is E sleeping, how is she napping, etc? 

For the most part, good. She sleeps great for me at night. She gets to sleep by 8:30 and will stir once (sometimes twice) before waking up around 7:30-8:30. I'll wake up to her moving around in the middle of the night so I'll either reswaddle her, nurse her, give her her paci, or just rub her cheek. She always sleeps through whatever I end up doing..which is me just winging it. 

She hates naps. We have a routine, a lovie, a paci, a swaddle, an "aquarium". It. Don't. Matter. She hates naps. I'm lucky to get one hour a day, usually around 10-11AM. 

2. Are you still working? I thought you didn't work? Are you going to quit/move to part time? Is it hard to work with Little E?

Believe it or not this was a very popular question, LOL. Yup still working. No plans on quitting or moving to part time at the moment. 

Yes! Imagine bringing your baby to work, that's what it's like. It makes for very awkward phone calls, conference calls, and emails that take me two hours to reply to. I have no tips for any work-at-home-moms, but if you have any for me please email or leave a comment below! 

3. How is breastfeeding going? Are you still BF'ing? You're STILL BF'ing? 

..Like my kid is in high school. 

Yes, still BF'ing! I feed her on demand, so if you've seen her thighs, that's about all the time. :) In all honesty she eats about every 2 hours if we're at home. If we're out, she rarely gets hungry. She's a very distracted nurser so feeding her anywhere besides our quiet house (or car) isn't very easy. 

It is going great! It's so easy and requires no thought anymore. 

4. What is E's weight/length?

Not really sure. She was at the Dr on Monday and she was 16 lbs, 2 ounces. They didn't do her length but she's well over 24 inches. We'll find out at her 6 month appointment. She's wearing 6 month sleepers and clothes. Some 6 month pants are too tight on her little legs! 

I have to be completely honest.. I'm currently checking out on Etsy so I'm not sure what I'm typing. 

5. What are some of your must have items you are using right now?

Good question! We use A&A blankets, her Pack N Play, Baby Einstein aquarium, rings, teethers, and her play mat the most.

Five Blessings on Friday-- December 20th

Woo hoo for Friday. Hope everyone is having a great morning!

What are your weekend plans? We don't have too much planned. Little E has her 2 month appointment this afternoon and Christmas cookies are in the oven. :) YUM! We have officially finished Christmas shopping, just have to wrap a few things.

1. My aunt being here was such a blessing! It is so nice having someone around who can hold Miss Emma so I can pee, brush my teeth, or take the dogs out. It is sooo nice. And it was obviously good to see her, too! 

2. How could you ever have a bad day looking at this sweet face? E is really starting to smile! If you want to get technical, it's called social smiling. Most infants start social smiling at 8 weeks. 

3. Mommy Has An Angel has been such a blessing. Natalie wrote this children's book for grieving mothers. I don't consider myself still grieving from the loss of my mom, but she will always be missing from my life.

4. SwaddlePods. Are. Amazing. E has been sleeping great and I give all the credit to these bad boys. I'll try to post more about her sleeping when I get a hot second!

5. My husband's grandmother sent E the best present ever..a homemade quilt! We had no idea she was even making her one. I got an email saying it was arriving and couldn't wait to get it! She is the sweetest lady ever. 

We've been doing tummy time and reading on it every day since it arrived! 

Five Question Friday-- December 6th

Happy, happy Friday! So happy it's Friday. Plus we have a special guest this weekend, Christine! Emma is so excited to meet her Auntie. Cannot wait to post some pictures! 

What do you have planned this weekend?

We don't have much planned-- catching up with Christine, movies, and I am getting fitted for my bridesmaid dress for her wedding in May. Woo hoo. Operation bridesmaid body starts...tomorrow! 

Once again these are a bunch of questions that have come in via email. I'll try my best to answer all of them!

1. What kind of camera do you use for your pictures with the giraffe?

2. How are the dogs liking Emma? Does Emma like them?

They love her, but they don't really acknowledge her. Does that make sense? They are already protective of her but they don't love cuddling with her. I think that is typical of poodles. 

3. Where did you get the blue and pink headband? (This post)

4. How is sleeping in the Rock N Play going? We are thinking of getting one. Do you recommend it? 

Well. LOL. My husband doesn't think Emma likes the Rock N Play, so she's now sleeping in her MamaRoo. It's been a little less than a week and we're getting lots more sleep. She's waking up twice, but they are two quick wake ups. 

With that being said, the Rock N Play is super cozy, warm, and serves its purpose. It was pretty inexpensive and I definitely recommend it! 

5. How are you liking being a mama? Are you stressed out? How is being back to work? Etc, etc. 

I am loving being a mama to Miss Emma Jane! She's such a sweetie and snuggle butt. Tonight she was mimicking me and we were sticking our tongues out at each other! She's so fun. 

Nope, not stressed out at all! Being back to work was tough in the beginning. Now it isn't hard and luckily my job is very understanding. I had a conference call on Tuesday and Emma squealed/farted/cooed throughout the whole call. The people thought it was adorable. :) 

Five Question Friday-- November 22nd

Happy Friday! Hope everyone had a great week. I'm a little sad because I am going back to work on Monday. Booo. The good thing is that I'm needed at my job and that means good job security, right? :)

My dad is popping by tonight very quickly so that should be fun. Besides that it's a quiet weekend of cleaning/organizing/keeping everyone alive. Sunday I'm going with a friend to Michaels and the mall..woo hoo!

At least 50 questions were emailed to me so I'll try to get them answered in the next few weeks. Mostly about Emma's birth, how she's doing, etc. 

1. How was your labor/delivery? Did you have her naturally like you wanted? Did it hurt? How long were you in labor for? Etc, etc, etc. 

90% of the questions emailed to me were something along these lines. I am trying to write a post about her birth but haven't finished it yet. 

Because I thought my contractions (I still refuse to call them that) were "cramps", I'm not exactly sure when labor started. But I had some minor cramps Friday morning, October 18th, after my appointment. But for full on labor I'd guess maybe 6 hours? 

Yes, natural delivery. There was no time for drugs. ;) Umm, yes it hurt but I thought it would hurt more.. hence not knowing I was in labor. 

2. Are you getting any sleep? How is she sleeping? 

Barely. :) Seriously though, yes. We have quite a "system" that allows us to get good sleep (including Emma). 

She sleeps great..now. She did not like her Pack N Play after about 3 weeks. Not sure what the deal was but she would sleep in there for about an hour and end up on my chest or my husband's arms. After talking to lots of friends, we have a whole new bedtime "routine"-- bath (if necessary), lotion her up, tight swaddle, nurse/bottle, DOWN. 

Oh and we packed up our Pack N Play and got a Rock N Play. That thing is amazing! We have had this one for a week and life has never been better. 

3. How is your weight loss going? Are you working out or doing anything differently?

This was the 2nd most asked question, LOL. I posted yesterday that I've lost about 20 pounds and everyone thought that was insane. I think some of it was swelling (I was never really swollen, but maybe?), but I'm not sure.

Right now I have 20 pounds to go. There is no rush-- I'm petrified of losing my milk supply so I refuse to deprive myself. Just been eating healthy (lots of oatmeal, barley, fruits/veggies), working out, and lots lots lots of water. 

4. How is your husband doing? 

He says he's great. :) Thank you for asking!

5. What are your top items you use on a daily basis and recommend for new moms and moms to be? 

Hmm! Like I mentioned above-- the Rock N Play was a must for us. A&A Swaddle Blankets,  4Moms MamaRoo, burp cloths/cloth wipes/etc, pacifiers (Emma loves to suck), zip up sleepers, hats, and Aveeno Calming Comfort Lotion are all items we love. 

Obviously this does not include diapers, wipes, etc. 

Five Question Friday-- October 11th

TGIF! Can't believe I'm just now getting to this at 6:40PM (and now it's 9:13, sweet), whoops. I promise one day I'll get my act together! 

What are your weekend plans? As usual, my husband is working tomorrow but is off Sunday and Monday. Tomorrow we just have to do a grocery run before he heads to work. :) He picked up a steam mop for us so I'm anxious to try it out tomorrow! 

Not sure what we'll do on Sunday for my husband's day off. Probably try to walk this baby out. ;) We'll see! xO

1. Are you close to having the baby? Are you having any signs, dilated, etc? 

Nope! Cervical checks are unnecessary, cause infection, and don't really matter so are kind of pointless. I can have one if I want but they don't tell you much. The biggest thing is baby's position-- she's head down and has not "dropped" yet at all. I'm carrying her up by my neck still. ;) 

Some things that I'm actually looking out for (that haven't happened yet) would be swelling and obviously my water breaking. 

2. You are going to be such a wonderful mother! What are you most nervous about?

Thank you so much! 

Umm, you weren't very clear-- nervous about birth/labor/delivery? Or nervous about motherhood? Hm. For labor/delivery/birth I'm not really "nervous". I just want everything to go smoothly and bring home a healthy baby girl! I'm not really nervous about motherhood, either! Just excited to be a mama to a little girl. 

3. Do you think you'll want more children? Your pregnancy seemed pretty easy and uneventful. 

It really depends! We'll see what God has planned for us. Let's get this baby out first. :) With that said, we definitely want to have a large family! We came from pretty small families ourselves. 

Yes, my pregnancy was very uneventful/drama free. I'm so thankful! So many of my friends had to go to labor & delivery several times for various reasons. While I did call the Dr a few times, it was only for silly questions. :-) 

4. What are the dogs going to think of a baby? 

Ack! I don't know! They have been around an infant before, but never a newborn. I can't wait to report on how it goes! 

5. Are you doing anything to promote or bring on labor?

Nope. Some people believe in the Red Raspberry Leaf Tea, but I cannot find it anywhere. I think that's a sign I shouldn't be drinking it. Some also swear by evening Primrose Oil. Also not really interested. The only thing I've been doing is walking and bouncing on the darn ball! 

Five Question Friday-- September 27th

This week flew by..TGIF! What are your weekend plans? Someone have a pumpkin flavored drink for me-- alcoholic or not. Let me know how it is! :) I sort of want one of those PSL from Starbucks, but I am nervous to have that much caffeine. 

My in laws get here later today and we're so excited to see them! I have quite a to-do list for them. I know, I'm awful.

1. You got the MamaRoo (here)! What do you think? 

Well, we obviously haven't put BG in the swing, but it is awesome! I love that you can plug your phone in it. It's also really light so it can be carried from room to room. Oh and super cozy and soft. 

2. Are you ready to be done with the pregnancy or are you enjoying it?

I am enjoying every moment! Definitely ready to meet our gal but I want her to cook as long as she wants. :) 

3. How often do you go to the movie theatre?

Maybe 3 times a year? Not often. 

4. What do you still have to do to get ready for baby?

Not much! Install/learn about our carseat, get some curtains for her nursery, put batteries in everything that needs them, fix the pack 'N play/sound machine, maybe buy some more burp cloths, and pack our bags. Not to mention clean up our house. And get me stuff for after-- cozy clothes and jammies. Okay so it's a lot of stuff...yikes!

5. How is it going only having one Diet Coke a day? 

It's not so bad. Definitely will go back to drinking a few more after BG is here, though! 

Five Question Friday-- September 20th

Woo hoo, it's Friday. Thank goodness because our house is a disaster (more on that here). Even my husband asked how much longer the car seat box is going to sit in front of the TV for. At least I have the whole weekend to get organized and clean this place up! 

Besides that, I am having my new friend over for dinner tomorrow night! She is so sweet and I'm so blessed to have found a few sweet friends here. 

There were lots of questions this week so I'll try to get them answered in the next few Fridays. Some can be condensed to a few questions, so I'll try to do that.

1. What breed of dogs does your aunt have? 

They are Cairn Terriers-- just like Toto from the Wizard of Oz! I'm sure this is coming...their names are Lucy (3ish, blonde) and Gracie (7ish, black). 

2. Where did you get the necklace that you wore to the shower (back here)?

Target clearance. 

3. Do you recommend traveling with dogs? Do you have a "plan" that works for you guys? How do they behave? Do you choose to sit in the back seat?

Yes, I definitely recommend traveling with dogs! It's certainly not easy but it works for us. We don't really have a plan-- I walk them a lot the day before we drive, we don't feed them the day we drive, and we make sure to stop at a place that they can pee and walk around for a bit. 

My husband swears by his little "set up": Bringing the dog beds and blankets and encouraging lots of sleeping. It really works! (You can see some pictures of us in the car back here). 

Yup, I always sit in the back seat or drive. The front seat makes me car sick! It's a bonus when we travel with the dogs so I can entertain them out of my husband's way. 

4. Is the aunt you stayed with the one who's your boss? Is that weird? 

Yup! No, not weird. 

5. What are the 7 balls sitting by the dogs from this post? Are they dryer balls? 

Yes, they are felt dryer balls. I got them in case little miss is sensitive to dryer sheets..they basically do the same thing. Plus they are much cheaper and good for the environment. :) 

Five Question Friday-- August 30th

Happy Friday people! Hope you all are enjoying your Friday and that you get a nice 4 day weekend. Woo hoo! 

Sorry for the major lack of posts this week. Hoping to get back in my game today/this weekend. Not too much going on here this week-- lots of Lifetime movies while I work, phone calls, jammies, and headbands arriving for BG. 

Today is hopefully going to be quiet work-wise, so besides walking a new dog and dusting the whole house, I plan to relax and catch up on other house stuff. And get my eyebrows waxed. Majorly.

1. What Etsy shops do you like and recommend? (From this post)

Jameson Monroe for baby headbands (pricey, but have heard great things). Plus I think if you like them on FB you get a coupon. 

Got a very inexpensive Halloween headband from this shop.

We ordered our crib bedding from Lolas Lovies and could not be more happy with it. Worth every penny and she was very flexible with what I wanted/didn't want. (Pictures of nursery bedding here).

2. What is your cleaning schedule? Do you do it all in one day? 

Good Lord, no! I can do a more thorough post on this if you'd like, but I do a bit each day. Because my job is incredibly busy on Mondays, quiet on Thursdays, etc, I plan my bigger jobs on the slow days (ie: vacuuming) and the small jobs (toilets) on busy days. 

I keep a "schedule" on the side of our fridge. By the end of the week the entire house has been cleaned from top to bottom. (Not including baseboards, those are monthly). 

Someone want to convince my husband we should have a cleaning lady come before BG's arrival?

4. Are you getting nervous for baby's grand arrival? Is your husband? 

Not really. We are taking classes and I trust that my body will know what to do! Plus I've been listening to my Hypnobabies CDs like it's going out of style. Maybe I'm going into this with rose colored glasses on, but hey-- I feel calm! 

My husband on the other hand (bless his heart!), is nervous for how it's all going to happen. Every time I wake up in the middle of the night to pee he asks if I'm okay.. "Is it the baby?" NO! Just have to pee again! 

5. When is your due date? How much longer? 

My "due date" is October 19th. I put quotes because the chances of her arriving on her due date are very slim. Plus, most first time moms go over. She'll come when she comes. :) 

I'll be considered full term September 28th (37 weeks) and she'll be welcome any time after that! 

Five Question Friday-- August 16th

Woo hoo it's Friday! :) Sorry about my lack of posts this week, I've been battling some sickness. Boo. I'll get back on track today, promise!

Let's see.. we don't have anything crazy planned this weekend besides this one small nursery project. Can't wait to post about it! My dad is coming on Monday so I'll probably do a quick clean this weekend.

My husband and I have become obsessed with Orange is the new Black, so I'm sure there will be lots of that this weekend.

3. How are you feeling? Do you like being pregnant? Not much longer!

Thanks for asking! I feel great, to be honest. Surprisingly I'm not swollen (yet?) and I really don't feel that big. I really give a lot of credit to working out constantly. Hopefully I'll get back to my pre-prego body quickly! I'm anxious to take little miss for a jog in the stroller, walk in the sling, or just a long walk outside this fall.

Yup, I love being pregnant! I'm so thankful to be carrying my little gal and try not to complain so much. When I do complain, my dad and husband usually want to smack me.

4. What do your weekends usually look like? Does your husband always have to work? 

Weekends are always unpredictable. My poor husband works Saturdays so I try to get house stuff done that day. A typical Saturday is "sleep in", stay in my jammies, clean up/laundry, grocery shop, and meal plan for the week.

Sundays are a bit more fun-- sleep in, church, maybe go out for breakfast, play with the puppies, watch shows, and lots of PJ time.

Our philosophy for weekends is this-- we work hard during the week so we like to play hard during the weekend. I have no shame being in my jammies throughout the day on Saturday. :)

5. What's your dream job?

Hmm, well I love what I do now so I consider myself super blessed. BUT, in another life I would have loved to go to the naval academy. I have a friend who went there and it just seems so cool! Not sure if I would survive, but it'd be a fun experience.

Five Question Friday-- July 12th

Happy Friday, people! Hopefully y'all had a great week and you're ready to tackle the weekend.

I'm home from my vacation and I'm so thankful I have all weekend to recuperate. :) We had a wonderful time and I'll be sure to post about it when I have 33 seconds to spare.

This weekend I hope to clean up, do some laundry, and get a whole bunch of groceries. I still feel quite unsettled in our new place and have a strong urge to nest!

1. How is your back pain? (Mentioned back here)

Thank you for asking! It is slightly better. I'm able to walk but not very far. Lately it's been traveling from my back all the way down my butt and thighs and even my calves sometimes! It's horrible. My pregnancy pillow is a lifesaver.

Hopefully now that life is a bit more relaxed, the pain will subside.

2. Where did you get your shirt from this post? 

Pea in a Pod. I cannot find a link but it's pretty new so you should be able to find it!

3. Have you worked on your birth plan yet? Do you have a format you recommend or did your Dr provide one? 

NO! I suck and am totally slacking, I know. We know the meat and potatoes of it, but still need to research a few things. It's not like you can plan your entire birth....stuff is going to come up that is out of your control! It's just important to note what is important to you.

The most important thing I have to note is that I have the RH factor. We can't forget that!

I have a birth plan that a friend created. I can ask her if I can share it but again-- as long as you note what is important to you, a detailed format is not necessary (in my opinion).

4. What do you guys have to do to get ready for baby? Do you have a list of stuff, classes, etc? 

What don't we have to do? I'll try to do a post on it but we have a ridiculous amount of crap to accomplish. God gives you 9 months to prepare, though, so I'm not stressed!

Yup! We are taking lots of classes throughout the month of August. My husband is a saint and signed us up for everything. He's most excited for the hospital tour, LOL.

5. Are you going to continue your job once baby girl arrives? 

Yup! I think I'll take a few weeks off but work right up until she gets here.

Five Question Friday-- July 5th

Hi there! I hope all of you had a wonderful 4th and you celebrated well into the night like us. There were some beautiful fireworks downtown that we were able to watch from the roof of our building.

I have so much to catch you up on, but we moved on Monday. It is so nice being in a much bigger place. My in laws are here now and then we take off for our beach vacation on Sunday. Lots going on at the Boese household!

1. How are you going to decorate the nursery? Do you have a theme or picture you're going by?

No clue! You all know I love this blanket, so I will be incorporating that into the nursery somehow. Right now the nursery is just a changing table, bookcase, and some goodies we have purchased/received!

2. I love your bathing suit (from this post)! Be sure to get a picture. You didn't want to get a bikini?

Thank you very much! No, wasn't totally ready to rock a bikini yet. Maybe next time?

3. How did you spend the holiday?

Nothing too crazy. We shopped a bit in the morning/afternoon and came home and grilled out. My favorite part? Baked beans! We also made Special K Bars again. Yum!

After we ate we went up to the pool/roof area and watched the fireworks. They were beautiful! We came home and at 11 some idiot decided to shoot off more fireworks. Sweet.

4. Do you make your bed everyday?

No. :( My mom would be disappointed. Maybe 4 days out of the week.

5. How much time do you spend on your computer a day?

Hmmm. On a typical work day I'd say all day. Luckily when I'm on the phone I stand up and walk around, walk the dogs several times a day, and stop for lunch.

On the weekends I try to avoid the computer like the plague. :)

Five Question Friday-- June 14th

Happy Friday, y'all! I can't believe it's five o'clock and I'm just now starting this..whoops. Next week I'll be better..maybe.

We have nothing planned this weekend besides pack and clean up. We are a little behind in the packing department so I'd like to get back on top of it this weekend. We only have a little over two weeks until our move!

My back is killing me-- not sure if it's a pregnancy related thing or from my working out (too much? bad shoes?). I see the doctor Wednesday and maybe he can tell me if this is a normal pregnancy pain (my guess). In the mean time my husband has forbid me from my favorite part of they day..my lovely 4 mile walks/runs! Boo.

1. Do you know where I can buy the cloth wipes you have? (Pictured here)

Sorry, I do not! I won them in a giveaway and it was through an Etsy shop. I definitely recommend searching Etsy-- I'm sure there are thousands on there!

2. Are you really going to use cloth diapers? Gross! How does it work?

Yup! The ones I have (so far) are AIOs (All in ones) so after BG uses it, we will put it in a pail (and eventually into the washer to be washed). Some are velcro (my husband preferred those), so it really does work just like a disposable diaper. The snaps are a little bit more work to put on, so I'll probably stick to buying velcro from now on.

When BG poops you just throw it away and put the diaper in the pail. Not a big deal.

3. Do you always wear your seat belt?

Yup!

4. Do you dream? Do you remember them?

Yes, some nights I remember my dreams. Since being pregnant I have very vivid and sometimes scary dreams.

5. What do you appreciate most about your children's dad?

Well I technically don't have children yet, but I guess I can answer this! I appreciate that he works hard and still will spend time with us (his little family!) when he get home, he puts his family first, and he supports (and encourages) me through this whole new/weird/crazy/fun experience.

Five Question Friday-- June 7th

Woo hoo it's Friday! I have honestly been on the phone since 7:30 this morning. 

What are everyone's weekend plans? My husband got a new work schedule so he works tomorrow but is off Sunday. Tomorrow I would like to do some work around the house, finish BG's bookcase, and I'm having chinese food with a friend. Yum! 

Sunday we may go and register at Babies R Us. At first it seemed fun but BRU is about 20 minutes away and we know we'll be there for an hour or so and it just seems like a hassle. Maybe we can turn it into a fun day date. Who knows.

1. Do you wake up before the alarm or get up at the last possible second? 

I don't really use an alarm. Some furry animal usually stirs around 6:30-6:45 and I will finally get out of bed at 7. 

2. Your bookcase for Baby B is really pink. I thought you said you didn't want to do all pink? (Back here)

LOL! The picture does make it look brighter than it really is. Because we rent we cannot paint the walls, so this piece will just be quite a statement piece. I sound like I know what the heck I'm talking about (I don't). 

Obviously the shelves will have stuff on them, so it won't have the "wow" factor you're seeing when it's plain. 

3. What ended up being wrong with your dog? Was the other one sick?

We have no idea. They thought it was a bacterial infection, but who knows. Cocoa never got sick (Thank God!) so they assumed Oreo may have eaten a piece of grass that was sprayed with chemicals, or peed/pooped on by a sick dog. 

We are just thankful to God (And the vet) that our boy is feeling much better!

4. What is your favorite morning drink?

Well, it used to be coffee. Now it's ice water. :) I will have my one and only Diet Coke around 10-10:30. 

5. Do you two have Father's Day plans?

Well, since we're not "officially" parents we don't really do anything. 

I will get my husband a card and I got him a gift for the baby he's been wanting. Can't wait to post about it! 

Since we obviously don't live in the same area as our dads/grandpas/etc, we will just call or Skype with them. Luckily we get to see both sets of parents in less than a month! Woo hoo!

Five Question Friday-- May 31st

Happy Friday, y'all! TGIF, seriously. Last weekend was absolute hell. (Sorry, but it was). Not sure if I'll post about it but our little boy Oreo was in the emergency vet twice, and ended up being hospitalized for the day. Luckily he's on the road to recovery, but it was very scary.

This weekend I would just like to relax. We were never able to "celebrate" Memorial Day or BBQ with our friends, so I still have my burger and baked beans craving. 

Our fist anniversary is Sunday, but I don't think my husband has anything planned. Probably just dinner, which will be nice. We never go out to dinner (unless Chick Fil A counts).

1. What is the worst thing about staying in a hotel?

Hmmm. I really love hotels. Well, not crappy ones. If it's a nice place I don't worry about germs (or I try to not think about it). The only annoying thing I can think of is never knowing if I can drink water from the sink, not having access to water, etc. It's always such a pain! We end up running through the hallways to find a vending machine. 

2. Would you prefer to live without A/C or heat?

Heat, duh!

3. Is your baby girl's room going to be decked out in pink?

Not really. I love pink, but it doesn't need to be crazy. As I've mentioned several times I'm obsessed with this blankie, so I'll use that to gather other items. 

I can pull lots of colors from it-- blues, black, green, yellow. BUT, I don't want it to be gender neutral in the slightest. She will definitely be all girl. :)

4. Do you mind sharing where you got your maternity clothes and what you ended up getting?

Sure. I'll be better about taking photos when I am wearing the clothes, but we found everything at Motherhood Maternity and Target. Target was awesome for just simple T-shirts to wear with jean shorts/capris/whatever. 

Motherhood was having some kind of sale but I can't remember what it was. I got these capris and I'm in love with them. I'll probably go back and get them in one or two more colors. :) I think these are the jean shorts I picked out. I'm not a fan of showing off my legs, but they were comfortable. And like I said, there was a sale! Lastly I got these shorts in the grey. They are super comfy as well. 

The shirts from Motherhood are just as nice as the Target ones. After washing two of them I noticed they will definitely have to be ironed. Not sure why but they just scrunched up badly! One of the shirts I got ended up being a little bit see thru, but I can wear a tank top under it.

5. How does your husband feel about being a dad to a girl? Didn't he want a boy?

LOL the person who asked this is obviously a close friend of mine, because I never shared that he wanted a boy on here. Did I? 

Yes, he wanted a boy because he wanted our first child to be a boy. I don't know, something that the oldest child needs to protect the littles. 

After having a week or two to really let it sink it, he is totally in love with our baby girl. I think all along he wanted a girl! He is so excited to have a little girl to spoil and he is always reminding me how much little girls love their daddies, not their mamas. LOL! He is such a brat. 

Five Question Friday-- May 17th

TGIF! Hope everyone is enjoying their Friday..we sure are! After work I think I am going to treat myself to a mani/pedi and maybe even a haircut. I never do things like that unless it's for my birthday or Christmas. Okay or maybe a vacation.

Yesterday the dogs' had their yearly vet appointment and shots and it was nothing short of a nightmare. We waited over an hour-- one very excited dog and one dog who crawled all over mama. And one husband who is majorly creeped out by doctors. $369, 4 puke episodes and $30 in treats later, we survived.

Nothing fun or crazy planned this weekend besides lots of dog walking, dog park, and cleaning.

1. Do you keep your car cleaned up?

Yes! I cannot stand a messy car. Seriously, men-- pick up your car. If it's messy, that's probably why you're single. #Justsayin

If we had it my way, there would be no eating in our car. But my husband enjoys eating on the go. A lot.

2. Are you really doing a natural birth? Why? Are you crazy? (This was the number 1 question I got over email!) 

I hesitated even mentioning that, but I felt it was important to share what books I am reading (and enjoying!). (You can view that post here).

YES and I cannot be more excited. It was mostly my husband's idea-- he is the bomb diggity.

Why? Well because that's what our grandmother's did and I feel I want to experience birth and not be drugged. Plus I am petrified of a catheter, and that is required (at my hospital) for an epidural. I could honestly go on and on but I don't want to sound preachy. If you're dying to know, you can email me and I'll try to get back to you as soon as I can.

That being said, I have had 2 dreams that I had a C-section, and that is far from natural. Yikes!

3. When are you going to update about your moving plans?

Soon! I promise.

4. How often do you go grocery shopping?

Once or twice a week I'll go to the store and get crap. When my dad visits, he loves (more than me, seriously) going to the store and grocery shopping.

Five Question Friday-- May 10th

TGIF! Happy Friday, everyone! And Happy Mother's Day to all my mom readers. I hope you enjoy your weekend!

Let's see..as always my husband is working this weekend. Boo. Since we finally have our moving schedule (more on that later), I have an itch to organize and do a massive purge around the house. We'll see.

My Gap maternity leggings came in so I can officially be seen in public! Woo hoo! That means I'll probably go get my hair cut and maybe run to the mall. I need to find some cute longer shirts since I don't want my whole booty exposed in leggings. We'll see how that turns out.

1. What's the one personal hygiene thing you won't do in front of your spouse?

Umm, nothing?

2. What was the best field trip you ever took in school?

In 5th grade we flew to Williamsburg, VA and took the train home. It was so much fun! Mostly because my parents nor my friends' parents were chaperones. Score!

3. What is on top of your refrigerator?

Cutting boards and large serving plates. And probably dust. :(

4. What is your favorite or most used phone apps?

Banking ones or Pandora. I used to hate Pandora but now I use it every day on my walks.

5. What are you like when you're nervous? Do you get nervous easily?

Quiet. Yes! I'm already nervous for our anatomy scan that's over a week away. I know it's normal to be nervous but I work myself up.

Five Question Friday-- May 3rd

Holy moly how is it already May?! Yesterday marked being married to my love for 11 months-- holy macaroni! And of course that made me think what in the world are we going to do for our anniversary?

So thankful the weekend is here-- I'd like to do a good clean because my dad will be coming sometime next week. I'm dog sitting a few dogs and we'll be looking at some more places to live (EEK, will post on this when I have an update).

My husband as usual is working all weekend but we have finally gotten a good schedule together. It's starting to feel more "normal" and my boss even gives me work on the weekends so sometimes I don't have to work on his days off! It's a very interesting change.

1. What is the one thing you hate most about being an LEO wife?

Wow, hopefully I never gave off the idea that I hate any part of my husband's job!

I don't hate his job at all-- it's not my job to hate. Like I mentioned above, the hours are weird but I definitely don't hate that.

Oh I know what I hate! When people find out what he does they always have to say "Well, because of the nature of his job, you need good life insurance/a job/etc". Really? These days you can get shot at doing just about anything. I think I'd feel safer carrying a weapon than not.

Okay, rant over. :)

2. What's your favorite way to recharge?

Um, sleep? Read?

3. Who drives when you and your spouse go somewhere?

Me. I get major carsick in the passenger seat. :(

4. What are 3 things on your bucket list?

Hmmm. Run a marathon, have a big family with the best guy ever, and grow closer to God every day.

5. Have you ever been in a car accident?

Not really. I rear ended someone in high school in my dad's car and the guy drove off (really?). It really wasn't anything major, just expensive for my dad. Whoops.

Oh and kind of funny? We never told my mom. Ha. She died and never knew. She is probably laughing at me right now calling me a goofball.

Five Question Friday-- April 19th

Happy Friday, y'all!

I have had the news on all day watching this nonsense in Boston. And of course I'm playing Sweet Caroline while I "work". My boss said she popped popcorn and is watching the news so you can guess what kind of "work" I have today. :-)

Tonight we are meeting a friend for dinner at our favorite burger place-- should be fun! Tomorrow I need to run to the mall for a few errands and Sunday will be cleaning...woo hoo!

You guys sent in a ton of questions regarding Baby B so I'll do my best answering them over the next few weeks.

1. Are you excited to be a mom? What are you most excited for?

Obviously we are excited, LOL. My husband has literally been on cloud 9 since he got that life changing text in February. I was a bit more cautious (I still am!) at first, but definitely excited.

I definitely don't have something I'm most excited for, but here are a few: being a younger parent (therefore I'll be younger when he/she is older), finding out if we're having a boy or girl, having all our family/favorite people here in October to celebrate little's birthday, and experiencing a true miracle. I'm also excited to see my husband be a parent and our parents be grandparents. 

2. Are you going to post about pregnancy/Baby B?

Sure!

3. Do you really think the gender predictor kit worked? (Here)

Guess I was not clear enough in my post, but no-- I know it's not a definite answer. :-) It was just a fun little thing to do!

4. Are you nervous/scared of anything?

Of course. For the first several weeks I was worried I would lose the baby, then I was worried I was carrying a dead baby, but that is such a typical fear for everyone.

I'm now in the "safe zone" so the chances are low, but I am still paranoid. I just have to remember that God has a plan and what's mean to be will happen!

I'm trying to educate myself as best as possible so I'm very aware of everything that's going on. This should hopefully eliminate some fears!

5. Do you think you still want to rent when baby comes?

Yes. I'll save a whole post for this but yes, I think we'll either renew our lease our find a cheaper place to live that's bigger.

I think if anything we'll be getting a bigger car. Keep ya posted!

Five Question Friday-- April 12th

Welcome to Five Question Friday! I hope everyone had a wonderful week and you're looking forward to the weekend.

We certainly are! It's supposed to rain all day today but be nice tomorrow and Sunday. Thinking we'll head to the dog park tomorrow morning before I meet a friend for lunch.

Last night I saw an early release of the movie 42 and it was excellent! I definitely recommend it. There was some strong language, but an amazing movie.

1. What is your favorite rainy day activity?

Hmm. Probably reading the giant pile of books on my bedside table or playing games.

My husband and I can make a game out of anything. We recently got a $3 wiffle ball set and we love to chuck the ball at each other.

2. Are you usually on time or running late?

Good question! In my head I'll say I'm "running late" but I'm always early or on time. Plus I'm good at speeding, if necessary.

We always say that on time is late. :)

3. Do you or your husband snore?

Nope.

My husband does have very vivid dreams, though, and wakes me up a lot in a panic. He'll turn the lights on and talk in his sleep. When we were first married I thought it was adorable. Now it's just annoying.

4. What's something you recently splurged on-- yourself or someone else?

Not really a splurger! My dad's birthday is on Sunday so I got him a fun gift but besides that, nothing as of late.

5. What is your current favorite song?

I have been obsessing over White Dress by Ben Rector. Seriously, check it out.

Five Question Friday-- April 5th

Hi guys, happy Friday! What are your plans for the weekend?

My husband got a new work schedule so his "weekend" is now during the week. It's super weird and leaves me going by myself to church on Sunday. Like I needed another excuse to skip it.

I have been on a milk kick lately and drank a gallon in 5 days. This is coming from the girl who usually uses less than half a cup with her cereal..so I'll be hitting the grocery store at some point this weekend!

After yesterday's post I had a lot of questions come in..

1. You must get sick of all these people visiting? 

Not really! People don't come that often. Honestly, it just seems like that. We had a wave of it and we'll go 2 or 3 weeks before someone comes again. Maybe even a month. We really do love our family and encourage people to come as often as they can. Clearly they take advantage of that offer. :)

2. How did you get tickets to the games? Aren't like they like thousands of dollars?

No, LOL. Well yes they probably are but we just got them from people at the university, I think. They were not that pricey!

3. Aren't you just a bandwagon fan because they're doing well?

No. They have a wonderful program but I have definitely cheered for them on bad years. Last year was tough. It's been 10 years since they went to the final four, so we'll see what this year (weekend) brings.

4. What do you guys do for a living? 

My husband will punch me in the throat if I say more than he is in law enforcement downtown. You can probably figure the rest out for yourself.

I work for my dad's company from home dealing with HR. My husband and I both worked at the Corporate office in Orlando throughout college. It's pretty fun and very flexible.. which I love! My aunt is also in the business and she is my boss. We should probably have our own TV show.

5. Where did you get your sunglasses that you're wearing? (In this post)
