Weekend/Shower Recap

We are home and finally getting settled after our trip to NY. It was so much fun to get away and see our family!

I tried to take as many pictures as I could, but of course I suck and only took maybe 20. Gah! And of course I brought my fancy camera and it never left my bag. Sweet.

So, the night before we left (I think? It's all starting to mesh together), I was home working and heard a weird noise...

My husband was working (of course), so I called our maintenance team. Three hours later, the sink overflowed and the guy knocked on our door. Nothing like deep cleaning your smelly, sewage-filled kitchen at 10PM. UGH!

The plus? The guy who came to fix it was so sweet. He had to leave his house late at night and I felt bad, so I gave him tons of apple pie and Diet Coke. He loved me!

The nail lady was ready to kill me. My phone rang at least 5 times while I was there and she kept talking to her friends. I can only imagine what she was saying about me.

I have to wonder if that was my last pedicure before Baby B arrives...we'll see!

My aunt sent me this picture the day before we arrived..seriously, are they not the cutest?

And finally-- on the road. The dogs were actually pretty well behaved and slept about 80% of the time. Who am I kidding.. I slept about 80% of the time!

I made sure to keep my feet up and had no problems with swelling. We only stopped once in the 6ish hour drive for a lunch/potty break.

I really wanted Subway. It was amazing.

We finally made it! My aunt had these M&Ms out and I thought they looked so much like fall. There were probably 3 in each bowl by the time we left.

The doggies were so happy to see their cousins. It was adorable. It was like they were never separated!

When we came in, Oreo lifted his leg at least 10 times. I'm not sure if anything came out, but who knows. Guess my aunt is finding out if it was real pee or just "fake" pee!

The weather was beautiful. The doors and windows were open and the dogs loved it!

Walking with 4 dogs the morning of our shower..not easy.

Ya like that? I have no pictures of our shower. I totally suck. BUT it was absolutely beautiful and tons of fun. Note the random stroller wheel behind me in the picture..ha.

Not sure if it's just my family, but people stayed at the shower for a long time. Seriously! After we opened presents and ate cake, we cleaned up the room and hung out for quite some time.

Then everyone kind of randomly showed up at my aunt's house where we..surprise, surprise, ordered pizza.

Cocoa and Oreo loved all the attention and got to be around my cousin's baby who is 15 months old. They really didn't even notice her, which I think is good?

Monday morning I attempted to help clean up my poor aunt's house, but I think we just ended up making it worse. Whoops.

For example, a dog (we're not sure who) peed on the carpet. We thought it would be the perfect opportunity to give my aunt the Bissel Spot Bot that we have. We absolutely love it and thought it was the least we could do for trashing staying at her house the past 2 nights.

..Wrong. Didn't it just make it worse? Sigh. I don't even know what to say, honestly. Apparently it's much better but I won't feel better until I see the stain with my own two eyes.

Until then, my husband and I are saving up enough money to buy her a new rug. Ha.

Oh and we got this darling giraffe named Mary Catherine at our shower. She's so cute. Cocoa is totally obsessed with her!

My family was making fun of her because she's so squinty! I think it's a poodle thing or she must have been really tired, because she only does it some of the time. It's really hilarious.

Everybody was really well behaved on the way home. Even the dogs. ;)

We are so happy to be home and get ready for our little girl! Cannot believe our "due date" is one month from today! Holy crap. Hold me.

Enjoy your day! xO

The Good & The Bad

Almost everyday when my husband comes home, we talk about the best part of our day and the worst part of our day.

Usually my husband goes the easy way out and will say the best part is coming home, worst part is leaving us. I rarely always pry a better answer out of him. :)

I thought I would share this talking point because it honestly can get people talking. (Maybe you have quiet kids and they come home from school with the usual "fine").

The best part of our week:

Side note: Ahem. We can't possibly list all of the good things that happen in one week, these are just some of the wonderful things.

Is there anything more beautiful?

:: Snow! Seriously. When you don't have to drive anywhere, I think you appreciate it more. I finally got my snow and I was as happy as can be for a good 3 days..until it melted.

:: My husband surprised me and cleaned the whole house before church last Sunday. I was out jogging and called to wake him up when I was on my way back. He sounded..different..and said he had to go somewhere. I came home and he was dusting, vacuuming, and cleaning the toilet. Yes ladies-- he is amazing. No, he doesn't have any brothers. :)

:: I started walking the neighbor's dog across the hall. Fenway is a super sweet lab puppy. Not only am I getting my "puppy fever" fix, I have decided I never in my life want a big dog (that sheds). I'm sorry, I don't know how you people do it! Big shout out to owners of large dogs. :)

Note the water bottle. We love it! More on that back here.

:: Snuggles. Nothing better than seeing my two boys cozied up!

...And the bad:

:: When it first snowed, we were super excited to walk the dogs and see how they would react. First time they loved it and we could not be out there long enough (half hour was my limit). The second time? After twenty minutes Cocoa started limping and shaking. I assumed she was having a seizure (she's epileptic) so I stayed calm and we walked toward the stairs. Wrong! Then I noticed Oreo doing the exact same thing! By this point I assumed the salt to melt the snow was slowly killing my kids (hey-- they're all I've got!). After a frantic phone call I figured they simply got too cold, and that was their reaction. The moment we got into the stairwell they were completely normal-- chasing each other up the stairs and growling/biting each other. Really? Is it necessary to give your mom a heart attack?

Life According To My Phone-- January 3rd

These days, Cocoa's rockin' a $3 chevron sweater. What do you think? She only had a "fur" coat and it was too heavy for inside, so I snagged this from Target.

At what point do the dogs say, "Yeah! Let's dig through the recycling!"?

Snuggle buns on Christmas morning.

Don't act like you can't see it. . .

Oreo wasn't a fan of the snow. :( Cocoa, on the other hand, couldn't get enough! I knew if I didn't take a photo, nobody would believe me that it snowed. Here's your proof, people!

So we're terrible doggie owners and got the dogs "chewies" (AKA: anything that will keep them occupied for several minutes) for Christmas.

Some days if I'm on the phone or would like to SHOWER without so much as a whine or heaven forbid, a dog jumping in, I will give them chewies. I know you are not supposed to reward bad behavior. I know they can choke. I don't give them chewies and light the place on fire and leave..Please don't send me emails. :-)

Regardless, we got this chewie for Cocoa and a different one for Oreo. As you can see hers was pretty large for her ittie bitty mouth. Well instead of eating it, she just sat there and "protected" it for a few hours. Anytime we'd go by the bed (or try to take it) she'd snatch it up. Finally she ate it. It was so cute though. PS-- She's finally mastered how to eat them since this pic was taken

The dogs are petrified of the dishwasher. Cocoa sits here and Oreo sits by the closet in our room. They will not leave the room-- I've tried coaxing them with potty, treats, whatever. Poor things.

Can I join your picnic?

How sad is this? My husband is the top, I am the second one down. Really? 11 pants for him and 6 for me? I need to go shopping.

I love doing my Bible reading and writing in my journal (more on that back here). On this particular day it was expected to snow so I would peek out the window every 33 seconds.

We love the Green Machine and recommend it!

The other night we left our bedroom door open and the dogs had a field day all night. They probably didn't sleep and ran around with: the recycling (pictured above), presents, toys, and a bunch of ornaments at the bottom of the tree. Awesome. They also had 2 pee accidents.

I took the above picture because my husband never cleans up accidents. He was so nice to do this while I took them out and screamed at them. Never again will we leave the door open. Oh, and they slept like babies the next day. :)

Life Lately

So much has been happening lately it's hard for me to catch my breath. All good things, of course. We only need good things this time of year, don't you think?

I told y'all that my husband came home and we are so happy to be together again after 3 months. (It was for work, he didn't leave me or anything). Figured that someone would email me asking that. No, he didn't leave me. LOL.

To say that dog is clingy is an understatement.

36 minutes (not really) before my husband came home, I watched this movie (below). I won it from a giveaway and I was super excited. Not super excited about how sad it is. I am not really a crier but was definitely close. I definitely recommend this movie if you need a good cry.

My dad came for work and we (as always) had lots of fun. He was probably more excited to see my husband than to see me. No, not probably, he was

I should have done a whole post on what we did with my dad but we grocery shopped, went out to lots of fun places for dinner/lunch, and he helped me with projects around the house. Oh and he taught me how to iron. I hate ironing.

Anytime we go somewhere this is how we walk. WE live in DC but my dad knows where to go, so hubby follows closely behind and I'm way back.. taking in the scenery and taking photos.

And that jacket.. Oh my there is a story with the jacket! Everything has to have a story, right? Well, my husband has had the same jacket for a while, and it is one of those jackets for going in the snow and sledding, etc. Not a jacket you would wear on a fall day when it's 40 degrees. You get me?

I kept making jokes "Honey, we're not going skiing, are we?". I know, I'm a brat. It was funny. My dad found this jacket at Macy's and insisted on getting it for him. My dad is the bomb diggity and now no more jokes. Plus, shouldn't a guy have 2 coats-- 1 for skiing and 1 for regular days? Ya feel me?

We went to a sports bar for dinner 1 night and they stared at the TVs.. so boring-- I needed a girl there with me! Oh we ordered a HUGE plate of nachos which were absolutely delicious.

He taught me how to iron (correctly) and I'm super grateful! Before I would just slap the iron around and pray the wrinkles would leave. Now I know what I'm doing. :-) Thanks, Papi!

And on Sunday we took the dogs to PetMart to get their photo with Santa. They were surprisingly well behaved. Santa (AKA-- a doctor that works at PetsMart) was shocked at how much they loved him. For $10 you got the picture in the frame above. Not bad!

So for the most part that is all that's going on! I think later this week I'll be posting some interesting stuff so you'll have to stick around. xO

Grooming & A Tick

So I've talked before about how bad my babies need to be groomed.. I was trying to put it off so they would look cute all throughout the holidays and especially for a holiday photo.

Clearly God had other plans for us!

Yesterday I posted on my personal FB that I was pretty sure Oreo had a skin tag. I felt something bizarre behind his ear and everyone said not to worry. It was black, which is the color of his skin, so I really didn't think much beyond that.

In the middle of the night I woke up for some water and saw something on the floor. Naturally I picked it up and it was the "skin tag".

.. Except it was a dead tick. Never seen one in my life but Google told me so.

I'm still a little confused why he got a tick on him when we're paying $15/month for both of them to get flea/tick/heart worm medication.

Alas, he's fine. But I still felt better knowing he could go to the groomers and get everything chopped off. I'm still worried about my baby, but at least now I can see his skin better.

Yup, that's a hair clip. Cute, huh?

My little ragamuffins. The groomers were so great and took them at 10AM (2 hours after I called)!

3 hours and $130 later they looked like this..

Sorry, that's a phone photo. They were running like crazy when they came home!

I love Oreo's bandana-- it's red for Veteran's Day. Cocoa has the funniest looking bows. Here's a closeup.

Our little princess!

Some questions that I know will come to my email so I'll answer them now:

-- Don't you have to clean everything? Yes, everything is being washed.

-- Shouldn't you get Cocoa checked? Yes! She got a (expensive) tick bath as well.

-- How did your dog get a tick? I have no idea! Virginia is a common area. Because we haven't had our first hard frost yet, bugs are still around outside.

That will save everyone some time. :) Also! If you have any tick medication that you recommend definitely comment below or email me! xO
